The attack on the TGV system seems untypical, it was straightforward, well planned and targeted (suggesting knowledge of the systems), effective but with little risk of injury to those travelling. Unlikely to be Russia as they have shown little interest in minimising collateral damage previously, as is true of terrorist groups. It was also interesting that it was (at least initially) categorised as vandalism rather than terrorism by the French - has their intelligence ruled out known groups? |
