I asked our MLA Leonie Cooper what she thought of this appointment and the other £100K+ salaries of GLA Executives. Her reply was - 'Whatever my personal views about the salary paid to the new Deputy Mayor, or any of the other Deputy Mayors or Senior staff may be, is irrelevant, as the Mayor is free to make these appointments, as are the GLA functional bodies. I can respond to your Enquiry, but I cannot stop these appointments being made, nor these levels will f remuneration being paid'. So I don't know what she thinks but I would have thought she could have raised the issue at a GLA members' meeting if she had any concerns. It looks as if Mayor Khan can appoint and spend on salaries as he wishes whilst elected MLAs just look on and nod. And, I have just worked out what these highly paid people are costing us in total. 845 x 100,000 = £84,500,000. PER ANNUM !
