| Mr Ixer 'I realise Hamas are different to the IRA'. They are not at all different. Both are/were male dominated terrorist groups who resort(ed) to bombing and murdering innocent civilians because there was no popular support for their political objectives to be gained by democratic means. For Hamas the objective is the destruction of Israel and the taking over of its people, land and assets. For the IRA it was attempting to force the British Government to release Northern Ireland from being part of the United Kingdom against the wishes of its citizens there. On the whole however they were not trying to annihilate the people living there though they were quite happy to murder any opponents in the region and on the British mainland to achieve their aims. Hamas as we all know seeks no peaceful co-existence with Israel or the Jews living there. With the passage of time NI and Eire seem to be moving to some sort of de facto union with economic and social benefits seen to outweigh political differences. Don't see that happening in the Middle East based upon Hamas' beliefs, comments and actions. |
