100% agree with Richards point. Interestingly young people feel that the way forward with the high street is to pedestrianise it, while i doubt it would happen it just goes to show the difference in thinking between generations.....
I would suggest with a much larger Sainsburys / Waitrose that weekly shopping needing a car then thats when someone should go to Wandsworth use our high street for daily items / eating out and start up businesses
Going back to the original post, i suggested to JG a few years back that as we have such an issue with pollution and also (generally) plastic, would it not be great for WBC offer incentives to small businesses start ups that concentrated in these areas
For example, electric car sharing start ups, or businesses recycling plastics in some way. IE a Green HUB here in Putney.
I am sure that even if the landlords did not offer a discount to small business start ups in the M&S sites that the Council could offer an initiative in terms of business rates
They could, for example, offer zero business rates for the first 24 months, or see the site as a charity and offer the same deal (80% reduction in rates)
I would gladly support this
