Went shopping with a wicker basket. Eggs bought singly. Dried goods on grocer's floor. Brown paper bags supplied Bread not wrapped, often delivered by van. No washing up liquid invented so no plastic bottles. Glass bottles for Tizer etc, which we children returned and received coppers in exchange so would call at houses for empty bottles. Clothes pegs were wooden which we would by from the gypsies. A different life. |
