I hope that as Chair of TfL Sadiq Khan will be there, or at least a member of the board. It would be interesting to know if the Mayor's Good Growth Fund could be used for repairs. One of its aims is "Making Better Places"..."Building on existing assets and qualities to make the city more liveable, making the best use of buildings, the spaces between buildings and supporting infrastructure" and "will help Londoners play a key role in shaping the future of their communities, by supporting projects which boost local economies, improve the environment and bring people together" The website states that last year he gave £30m to various projects, and selects the following examples - £1.2m to improve the Polka Theatre and around £670,000 in aid to carers in the LGBTQ community in five boroughs, including Hammersmith and Fulham. Ironically, the last meeting held by his former mayoral rival Zac Goldsmith clashed with a "Mums Against Muggings" meeting in Richmond which Goldsmith was obviously unable to attend. The hall was full, with people standing outside, to raise concerns about the systemised gangs operating in what was previously one of the safest London boroughs. In early May, two boys in Richmond Park were mugged by eight black youths for their mobile phones according to Metro.com and pictures of those waiting outside Richmond station to mug schoolchildren getting of the train have been shared on the Nextdoor forum. We have a crisis in London's crime levels, and now a "climate crisis" caused by the closure of a vital Grade II listed bridge. Khan is fiddling while Rome burns. |
