| Julie Glad you endorsed my suggestion that the 37 turn-round might be at Queen Mary's [if there were space there] which would indeed create a new through journey opportunity. But I would not support your contention that the new concrete area opposite the Green Man is as good as you make out. It is already possible to get from Roehampton to Putney British Rail direct by either the 85 or the 430, which combined travel pretty frequently. To use the 37 from the Green Man would involve a change of buses, 2 fares rather than one for those who pay them, and more hanging around. From Roehampton to East Putney using the 37 still involves 2 buses, but you can already make the journey using 2 buses, 85 or 430 to central Putney, then the 37 or 337 for the last little bit. So, other than increased frequency, what's the big deal? As for Roehampton to Wandsworth / Clapham, the 170 is a through journey - therefore one fare, less hanging around; and the 37 is going to be slow, as the right-turn at the intersection of Putney Hill to the Upper Richmond Road can be a real pain. I know: I live almost on top of it. Sorry, I don't think I am a wimp! |
