| I just don't think that it is the same now. When I left school and college there were jobs for everyone - and everyone looked for jobs. Now AI seems to be causing problems by sorting out job applications because there are so many applying for one job. "The fact that people drive or sit on the tube to travel to their place of employment is neither here nor there." It definitely is here or there. It costs a lot to get from one place to another if you have to travel miles by whatever sort of transport. It also costs time - time that should or could be spent more usefully looking after your family. The chances of getting something near your home is far less likely. Housing is also a huge cost - if it can be found - and there is a lot of disruption if you have to move home and move your children from school to school. The lack of truthfully affordable housing for those that are working and need to be housed is still the biggest drawback and cost for many. A tremendous amount of housing is not up to standard. In the attempt to employ fewer people and save costs it has possibly made it easier for people to claim benefits if they don't have to travel somewhere but I don't think that is necessarily the case and from the amount of time and effort it took for me to get all the docs together and get a Blue Badge for my registered blind FIL so that we could park closer to the hospital entrance etc I would say that you are probably over-exaggerating and that the occasional cheat is being made into a scapegoat to sound as if they are the norm! Somebody has to be blamed for everything! |
