It's interesting,  Martine. I know some IT and CyberSec companies complaining they "can't get the staff" and some organisations that try and promote those areas. But they'll rule out people, say, over 50 even though they have lots of experience (ok, I know it's not legal but it's common), or youngsters get ruled out because they don't have five or ten years experience (how do they get that without a job and training?). So there must be jobs out there ... it just needs better vision on employer's part?  I sat in on a discussion session at a trade shows a couple of years ago; it was data centre mangers complaining no youngsters applied to them as (1) they didn't know there were big warehouses of computers and storage driving all their phones apps (2) they wanted the high profile jobs: writing games, AI, phone apps software.

I hope your son does well and finds a job, I don't know exactly what he's studying but I'm sure there must be jobs for "techies" - and there's always data centres - I see Google are investing in the UK. Perhaps start researching the jobs market early on?
