Hi,
I spoke to the council and they put me in touch with the contractors (Biffa). Neither organisation had heard of it as a legitimate cause and their advice is not to donate & to tell the police. They were also concerned as they had heard of something similar happening in a different area last month. Biffa have requested that if anyone has sponsored him but have NOT paid him yet and are expecting him to call again to collect the money, could you pls call their depot with your details on 020 8879 3732
to help them to investigate this matter.
It's such a shame that there are so many scams around these days that those genuinely good causes suffer - and of course it is possible that this one is genuine, but just that the employer doesn't know.
