| Hi Catherine I reported this to the council on 27th May via Jim Maddan (after I nearly crashed trying to cycle across the trenches here) and here's the reply from the relevant officer on 1st June: Putney Bridge – as you may be aware the surface of Putney Bridge has been causing concern for a while – As background, leaking water from within the Putney Bridge structure has been causing problems with the carriageway integrity and bridge waterproofing for several years. Although there are six large Thames Water Utilities (TWU) mains running within the Putney Bridge Structure, TWU are adamant the water leaks are not emanating from their mains and the source of the leaks has yet to be determined. An external specialist consultant has recently undertaken further investigations with a view to proposing a programme for a major refurbishment of the bridge deck . Before this can be progressed, I am sure your can appreciate that the source of the water leaks needs to be determined and addressed. I hope to have the consultants full report within the next few weeks and at which stage I will be better placed to report on the longer more permanent solution. In the meantime I will continue to carry out running repairs to keep the bridge safe to use. Doesn't sound like the running repairs have been actioned yet. |
