I thought there was some obligation under Maritime Law? Anyway, the Coastguard seem to think there is as they are tge ones who request assistance from the RNLI. It seems to be forgotten that the real criminals are the people traffickers and are the ones who should be tracked down and prosecuted. Any suggestion to cut funds to or sanction the RNLI is stupid as it is likely to affect the circa 99% of the cases who aren't asylum seekers, particularly anyone who uses the waterways! |
