"And presum@bly the more sensible alternative would have been to do nothing while the Iranian regime continued to murder its own citizens, finance terror groups in the Middle East and build a nuclear bomb." Well, the Americans did nothing to stop the regime from murderimg its citizens, it's not clear what bombing the terror groups has achieved other than killing or displacing thousands of Lebanese citizens. However, stopping the regime from building a nuclear weapon? We've gone from a situation where they weren't doing so to one on which they're thinking about it. What a triumph! It's rather like Trump threatening the destruction of Iran unless it reopens the Strait of Hormuz when before this farce began it was open anyway and was only closed by his attacks! BTW, I never bother responding to your pal, the grossly prejudiced Hawkes, but with your skill at lecturing, perhaps you could try explaining to him - preferably in appropriately simple terms - that saying "dreadful as this terrible regime is" is not only not the same as being an apologist for it, but is diametrically opposed to it. And good luck with that.... |
