| Let me put it another way. If you are unhappy with the government’s policies then should you not also be unhappy with a system that enables them to pursue these policies despite only getting a third of the popular vote? And looking ahead how do you feel about the next government potentially being elected on even less of a share of the popular vote? Consequently should we not seek to improve our democracy so that our government reflects a majority of people’s views, even if that means different parties having to work together in a more constructive way. It could be argued that the last stable government we had was the coalition of 2010-15. |
