| Some of the difficulties which British firms experience trying to export to the EU have been created deliberately by Brussels in order to punish the UK for Brexit and to extort concessions such as reduced fees for EU students at British universities. New Zealand, for example, has fewer problems than the UK in exporting to the UK. Keir Starmer, for party political reasons, has decided to give into this blackmail, agreeing to dynamic alignment with EU rules over which the UK has no say. My point about the welfare bill was in reply to the argument that Brexit has ruined the British economy. This is a gross exaggeration. Exports to the EU are only a part of the problem. The main problem is the ever increasing amount spent on people who are not working at the expense of those in work. This results in higher taxes which slow growth which in turns depresses tax receipts, a vicious circle of economic decline. But all this is getting away from the topic of Palestine Action, Jonathan. |
