| On the one hand it is the licence payer that will pay the fine. On the other a publicly funded broadcaster manufacturing falsehoods can not go unchallenged. Forget Trump what about the audience? I think some of this fine should come out of the production and editorial team as well as those who had oversight - resigned or not! What struck me was how falsifying of material was down played by reports. As always there is plenty to criticise Trump without resorting to fraud. The number of US citizens in the UK is not insignificant when you consider how close some votes in the US election were. The problem we have, as always, is that people will excuse untruths if it benefits their political opinion. |
