| The difference is that legal immigration by definition can be controlled and reduced where necessary whereas illegal migration by definition cannot be controlled. The state is then forced to accommodate asylum seekers at great expense while their claims are being heard and even when their claims asylum are rejected there is currently little prospect of removing the individuals concerned. |
