I get your point about flags Ed, and I’m generally not a big fan of them either; but it depends on what message is being communicated. In the hands of Tommy Robinson and his flag-shaggers, the St. George’s flag or the Union Jack are aggressive, territorial message to the ‘others’ that they don’t belong. When the same flags are flown in celebration, for example, of the amazing achievement of the England Women's football team, it’s a celebration of national pride. It just depends who is flying it and what they are communicating. |
