When the Kinks wrote their London song “Waterloo Sunset” in the 1960s, the Southbank Centre would have been part of the view then as it was built in the 1950s. (I love the Southbank Centre.). I don’t know much about the view then, but it may well have been better, so I’m not disagreeing with you Fross. However, the view from Waterloo Bridge is fantastic. We mustn’t take it for granted, and should protect it. I love SW15 and have enjoyed every moment of living here, but it was central London that was the draw, as I had never heard of Putney. If I could have afforded it, I would have lived in Central London, just off Oxford Street would have suited me fine! We are lucky to live in this wonderful city, and must look after it. |
