Mitsubishi Estate is planning a huge building, ominously named The Slab, on South Bank that will utterly dominate a significant area. It would replace the ex-London Weekend tower next to the National Theatre, and it is a truly horrible design (see before and after pictures below). The local authority, Southwark, has agreed it and the government has waved it through, but a local group, Save Our South Bank (https://www.crowdjustice.com/case/save-our-south-bank/) is mounting a legal challenge that us, I think, worth supporting. |
