So the deputy leader of the opposition wants to pull the ladder up on the over generous RTB discounts ( not wrong in my view). But only after she herself has benefitted from these discounts and also while she had 2 homes . It gets interesting here as she claims after marrying her husband they lived apart for the first 5 years of their marriage in separate homes. Unfortunately the neighbours of her rtb home say they never saw her there whereas her husbands neighbours say she lived with him. Was she protecting her discount? As she had 2 homes should she have paid capital gains on the profit of the sale? Did she declare the correct address at the time of her election nomination? Was she claiming single occupancy status on either or both of the homes for council tax purposes? Is it really acceptable that a senior member of the opposition has 2 homes for some 5 years in the middle of a housing crisis? Just as well she's not a leading tory politician or this board would be in meltdown with the dishonesty and hypocrisy shown. |
