| Of course no one could object to the sentiment of Ms Anderson's comment, but it would be more useful if our MP revealed her attitude to the core issues in the current situation leading to the displacement of Palestinians and tried to address them. 1) Does she believe that Israel has a right to exist as an independent democratic state and should be supported in this ? 2) Does she concede that the stated mission of the proscribed terrorist organisation Hamas that rules Gaza with no mandate calls for the destruction of Israel ? 3) Was the humanitarian situation essentially not caused by the actions of Hamas which invaded Israel on 7th November massacring women and children ? 4) Following this invasion does Israel not have a right to fight back and to enter Gaza to eliminate these killers - an action we took in WWII when we landed in Europe to defeat and eliminate the Nazis who were attacking us from the air and would doubtless have invaded us if we had not acted first ? All politicians should not only show sympathy for those civilians harmed by collateral damage in this dispute but also come off the fence and decide which side is in the wrong and which side they support. |
