Most schools seem to be using Microsoft Teams and Office 365.  Each child gets a school email ID to use to log in.  Google classroom is similar.  A recent tablet, PC, Mac or Chromebook will do what's needed with download of a couple of free apps (the cost in in the users / IDs not the aps).  Teams is better in the app than via web browser.

I think Microsoft have been pricing aggressively in the education sector.  I know East Sheen uses it and some private schools too.
I've been in the room on one all-class zoom 'social' call of 30 8 year olds, it wouldn't work for an actual lesson!
