Thanks, Ed. I get the impression (and that's all it is) that the quality of IT taught in schools depends on the knowledge and enthusiasm of individual teachers, unless it's a private school with plenty of money and the parents hope a new Gates or Jobs will be produced as an investment for their old age. I do know someone who left IT, retrained as a teacher to teach IT but after a couple of years got disillusioned so moved back to an IT job. Yes, it needs curriculum guidance - although one that's regularly updated, otherwise it will be like the EU Trade Deal and they'll be learning about Mosaic or Netscape (not that there's anything wrong with the history of IT ...).
