The (mainly foreign) owners of Heathrow Airport have put out the begging bowl for a large handout from the British taxpayer despite showing a net profit of over £375m. last year following 9 years of continuous profitability. This morning, Wed 8 April a quick glance at Flightradar showed 3 flight arrivals scheduled for just after 5am - 2 BA (Hong Kong and Singapore) and Cathay Pacific also from HKG. All these flights could quite easily have departed one hour later to arrive in London after 6am as both HGK and Singapore operate all night. Heathrow is operating at much reduced capacity during the day so why should the millions of citizens of London be disturbed to facilitate an aircraft carrying about 330 passengers. No flights should now be allowed to land at Heathrow before 6am and with so many airline failures pending this should be enforced by law forever at the end of the present crisis. In the meantime not a penny should be handed over to the incompetent self-serving fatcats who run Heathrow without any consideration for the decent citizens of London and the surrounding counties. |
