We have a terrible reputation in the UK of wasting a lot of food and so do our shops. France has had a law for several years now that all excess food must be distributed so that it can be eaten by those in need rather than binned or used for energy. Make sure you know what the labelling means and the difference between Best Before and Use By dates. Best Before means just that: it doesn't mean that you can't or shouldn't eat it once it has passed that date. The only eggception is eggs and they can be used if cooked well eg baked in a cake, hard boiled eg for egg mayonnaise or curried. There is lots of info here including best ways of storing various foods, portion sizes, freezing and recipes for leftovers: https://www.lovefoodhatewaste.com/?_ga=2.54958702.43580342.1584571006-2076893052.1584571006 |
