Philippa, if all the office blocks along Upper Richmond Road hadn't been knocked down/converted into 'luxury' flats perhap we would have retained the office workers who used the shops Monday - Friday. The retail units near East Putney are fine if you want groceries but not much else. All down to WBC allowing the change. Although we need homes, perhaps it was a case of cutting your nose off to spite your face where the council was concerned as Putney High Street dies? Of course the Council still wins as they probably get more income from council tax on these flats. |
