| Unfortunately you sometimes get nightmare new homes like this despite all the regulations: https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/sep/21/owners-manchester-flats-bills-safety-failings-fire-brigade-new-lawrence-house In this cold weather it is a good time to look at your home and work out what you could do to increase the insulation and reduce energy use. Where are the cold draughts? Just a little thing I'm about to do is to buy some thermal curtain linings for some friends for their temporary curtains until they replace their windows. You need to be careful that you don't make your home so snug that you will be so hot when the sun shines in summer that you will need a lot of energy to cool down. Low tech cooling such as through draughts then are very enjoyable.
