That's good to know that the Putney Society is looking for ideas of where to plant trees. Every so often there are trees made available through grants to Councils (which is how they get a lot of funding). New saplings need to be looked after until they are established. It's good if everyone keeps a look out for them as in hot weather they can suffer and also if their stakes go missing etc they'll need tying back up. A contact at the Council is useful to deal with this or if not your local üCouncillors. I've seen tree pits filled with poppies this summer and with dwarf daffodils this spring but not in Wandsworth. Council contractors don't always agree - sadly - so you have to decide on whether you can risk not telling them! |
