Yes they are the native Black Poplars. I have been in touch with the dept at the PLA which is responsible for the tree work and have asked if they would send a statement for SW15 explaining why they have carried out the work. Actually it is all quite complicated and I think that they should have realised that what they have done, however justified, would be very upsetting for many of us. I will follow it up as have not heard back yet.
