It would seem there are a variety of reasons why the trees along the river footpath are being cut down, and they can't all be right. If the trees are being felled to alleviate adverse winds affecting sailing opposite Fulham Football Ground then why are the trees on the south side of the pathway being left alone? If the trees are being felled to reduce root damage to the embankment then why are some of them being left untouched? Whatever the true reason may be the amenity of the river walkway has been dramatically improved and with the boat race in the not too distant future a substantial length of riverside has been opened up for the benefit of the crowds. All-in-all a great piece of work that is to be congratulated whoever instigated it and for whatever the true reason. Well done. |
