The South West trains website announces that there will be no services from Putney this Saturday or Sunday - just as there were none last weekend and on many recent weekends.

I realise from my regular experiences on South West that the realities of running a railway come to them as an unwelcome daily surprise for which they are utterly unprepared.  And I also know this is a recurrent theme on the Forum. But has anyone yet had an explanation that we travellers might find acceptable, from the train operator or Network Rail, for this  persistent withdrawal of weekend services?
