I live on Gipsy lane, so right by the train line...
We all had a letter through just before christmas telling us that there would be 24hr engineering work over a series of weekends throughout Jan and Feb. I can tell you exactly what they are doing because its happening right outside my living room window (albeit 7 storeys below). They are basically replacing a whole bunch of track between putney and barnes station. It says on the letter that the new track will reduce the 'clackety clack' noise amongst other things.
Hope thats some help. If its any consolation btw they absolutely work like mad when the line is closed. At one point last weekend i counted nearly 30 men down there all looking very busy |
