Here's yesterday's press release from the council: http://www.wandsworth.gov.uk/legacy/news/pressreleasedetail.asp?id=6812 Here's a blog post from a Battersea councillor which explains the methods used by Wandsworth Council to get round the borough with grit, which I believe makes a certain amount of sense: http://jamescousins.com/2009/12/before-the-snow-and-ice/ Finally, on the question of Oxford Road, I believe this stretch of road and pavement remains icy for longer purely because the cold air can circulate beneath the road at the bridge - looking down on it from our office, the pavements are virtually clear above and below the bridge - it's just the bridge itself which is still treacherous. Perhaps more grit and shovels to clear the ice could be applied here in future.
