| I am not sure the fact that the BBC gets complaints of both right wing and left wing bias proves that it is doing a good job. The BBC is not supposed to provide a mix of right and left wing views in the manner of LBC. Under its Charter the BBC is supposed to be impartial. This is sometimes difficult to achieve but at the very least news and current affairs should refrain from expressing their personal views. Unfortunately in recent years some of the presenters have ignored this basic rule. Emily Maitlis and Nick Robinson, for example, made no effort to conceal their contempt for Boris Johnson. The current Director General has thankfully imposed greater professionalism on his staff. |
