I was recently speaking to a guy, living in Barnes, who works unsocial hours and regularly walks his dog along the track by the lake, situated at the North end of Barn Elms playing fields, during the hours of darkness. He reckons that, on several occasions this year, he has seen a group of men talking in, what he believes, may be an Eastern european accent, apparently, using a ladder to climb the surrounding fence, to access the lake. The worrying thing is that he has now also witnessed, what he believes may be very large fish, being taken away. The lake is reputed to hold some carp, over 10KG and these can be sold for hundreds of pounds. There is also the worrying possibility that they are being taken to be sold to the food trade. I cannot imagine too many people walking past at night but has anyone else heard any rumours along these lines?
