That remark by your father reminds me when I met the tenant of the first house my wife and I bought, in Bicester, then next door to the US base of Upper Heyford (since closed).

When I first met the guy who rented our house he was wearing two lapel badges.  One said "Praise be to the Lord" and the other "Nuke Iran" (this was not long after Jimmy Carter had disastrously failed to free American hostages from Iran). 

I later learnt that our house was the registered address of the Victory Baptist Church.  I didn't ask him how he reconciled the messages on his two badges!
