| The calibre of current politicians of all stripes is not what it was. But I don’t think they are all as bad as each other. Some politicians are blatantly in it for themselves but I do still see some on both sides of the house who are trying to do their best, not so much for themselves, but for their constituents and the wider good. If you look back, where are the likes of Douglas Hurd or Alistair Darling, to name just two from the past 30 years, today? I see another chancer has jumped parties today. He too is hardly baggage-free. |
