Despite the bitter cold and snow, almost 70 people braved it to come to last night's meeting. The speaker, Martin Howell, took us through the very complex process the council has to comply with to produce its planning policies - and how these policies will be applied in helping to decide developers' proposals for redevelopment schemes. There were some very sharp questions and I thought that Mr Howell handled them calmly and clearly. He explained how everyone can get involved in the consultation process into the Development Management Policies Document and the Site Specific Allocations Document. The consultation period runs through to 10 December. The discussion on the council's policies was lively and good natured. The concerns about the prospect of new tall buildings on some nine different sites in Putney town centre came over clearly. Following the views expressed at this meeting, the Putney Society will be assembling its response to the council's consultation and sending it to the town hall next week. Thankyou again to all those who took part in last night's very useful meeting. |
