Is it true that a Sainsbury's is to open in the centre of Southfields ? If so, is it needed ? What effect will it have on the seemingly adequate number of very useful convenience stores we have at the moment ? The Budgens that for many, many years has provided an efficient and friendly personal service and is an amazing cornucopia of exotic groceries. And the little store that quite possibly is keeping the Post Office afloat. And whither the abundant choice from our wonderfully nameless greengrocer and fishmonger. Forget the epithet 'Village' for Southfields if yet another High Street chain opens up. What next - Primark, W H Smith, M*D#na$ds ?
