I am sure Kevin Power is right when he says that it was an extremely deep freeze and London’s roads will continue to deteriorate over the coming months. But how is it that some roads have survived the winter much better than others? I think the recent resurfacing of Hazlewell Road is a case in point. The previous effort lasted only a year or so and broke up really badly after the 2008/09 winter, never mind this one, while the Howards Lane surface is still doing fine after several years wear and tear. Larpent was recently repaved and it is looking a little dodgy in places already. Luttrell's potholes are still there, by the way and one of them is now of tank trap size - I hope it's now near the top of the danger list! I think some of the contractors the council has been using in the last year or two did a very poor job and no doubt they will not be used again. however cheap their quotes were. |
