Apart from just trying to adjust our habits we are sometimes forcibly faced with having to and then do actually achieve a change eg we watched as that unpronounceable Icelandic volcano created havoc with air travel and by necessity there was this sudden huge uptake in Zoom and Teams type meetings with equipment several years ago.  Much further back we ourselves reduced and gave up sugar in our tea when there was a sugar shortage in the UK.

However from discussions (some online) it certainly seems many people nowadays no longer are able to make and keep the simplest of New Year's resolutions or even try to give up/deny themselves anything for Lent or any other reason as they would have energetically made an effort to in the past - a good test of resolve - which is a certainly a disappointing trend.
