| I don’t think abandoning powered flight is a sensible way of reducing global emissions. In the first place aircraft are responsible for less than 5% of greenhouse gases. But more importantly the world economy is intrinsically bound up with aviation. Just to take one small example, American tourists contribute £7.3 billion to the British economy. It is not possible to turn back the clock. However practical steps can be taken to reduce aircraft pollution. such as using Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Perhaps one day electrically powered flight will be possible. |
