Hello John. You would need to highlight, copy and paste my links into your browser.  The subject is interesting for lots of reasons:

The Ettrick Clearance was an early Highland Clearance where tenant farmers were cleared off their land by the rich landowners changing to larger sheep farms  and so many Scottish families were forced to migrate south - and away from Scotland and the UK altogether.  Something many have now forgotten but their music, dance and paintings of Burns live on in Caledonian Societies all around the world.

Haydon & Hood influenced changes in the way that people confined with mental illness were treated/occupied.  Usefully occupying people confined in prisons is a current failing inbthe UK.  Haydon had a sister in Bethlem and Dadd also had a brother there although it seems quite a number of his family suffered although he was the only murderer..  I was surprised at how long Haydon was associated with Bethlem.

And then there are the Victorians and their belief in fairies.  Did Dadd's amazing paintings lead to the phrase 'away with the fairies' - or is older than that?
