Hello Richard and Phillipa, many thanks for your replies.  Richard, I'm sorry but your image of Ettrick has not surfaced and Phillipa, your website references are not coming up.  I will persevere though.  Yes, Richard Dadd may have been asked by Haydon to paint something, Dadd's work is amazing isn't it?  Many thanks for the interest in this topic, I would be happy to refer to Michael Whitehall's pic' of Ettrick from the 2010 posting but will get permission first.
