In 2020, the last year in which the UK participated in Erasmus,  the UK sent 9900 students to other countries while 16 000 came here.  This may have something to do with the fact that, according to the QS world university ranking, four of the top ten universities in the world are British while no EU university makes it into the top twenty. So the £570 million which the UK is paying into the Erasmus programme is likely to benefit foreign rather than British students.
