| Why don't the HF Council just give the old bridge to Sadiq Khan? He could reinvent Boris Johnson's much-loved idea for a garden bridge (I expect that it could carry the weight of potted plants as long as they didn't start to move), and Khan would then be as much-loved as Boris is/was. Then they could build a nice new 21st century bridge between Furnivall Gardens and St Pauls School playground. After all, taking land from parks and school playgrounds to make it more useful and to generate profit has been the thing over the last few decades. Not that there is likely to be as much traffic needing a bridge, with the UK now facing the worst recession for 300 years. |
