| Now if kerbside recycling and residual waste collections ceased then I would really see that there would be a big problem. It is obviously more important to keep those going. A lot of people don't have transport to get waste to the recycling centres. I'm always surprised to see so many unflattened boxes and plastic bottles and tin cans. It makes a lot more space. You can avoid plastic milk bottles by getting your milk delivered by the milkman and plastic water bottles by using tap water and a sodastream if you crave fizzy water. There are public recycling banks but there's no knowing whether they will be full at a time like this. Leaving bags by a bank tends to be considered fly-tipping and unfortunately is often sorted through and spread all over the place. https://www.wandsworth.gov.uk/rubbish-and-recycling/household-rubbish-and-recycling-collection/public-recycling-banks/ Here's a good chance to check www.wandsworth.gov.uk that you are recycling as much as you can so that your residual waste is as little as possible. You can also check your Waste Authority - Western Riverside - for more information. You can check the websites for reduced price compost bins etc. |
