I've read many books about murderers (I find the subject fascinating) and there is a common theme in that their sadistic tendencies often started in childhood with cruelty to animals, and then gradually escalated into murder. The solving of these crimes by forensic science is even more fascinating. If you can find a copy I highly recommend a book called 40 Years Of Murder by Professor Keith Simpson who was an early pioneer in the subject. I was called for jury service at the Old Bailey in the 80s and he gave evidence for the prosecution. I was totally in awe of him. |
