"the average London driver regards all their car trips as essential." I'm not sure that this is true, and in any case it is a view that has to be challenged. Overuse of cars is destroying our environment, and it really needs to be hammered home that we cannot go on increasingly using cars. Of course for some long journeys they may be necessary (though public transport is the obvious solution there), but so many short journeys are completely unnecessary: a third of car trips in London are shorter than 2km, and walking or cycling could supplant most of these. |
